A Day at the Polynesian Cultural Centre

WOW what a day, a big long, exhausting kind of day, but one that was very interesting, informative and loads of fun.

We were picked up this morning at 10am by the bus to take us to the Polynesian Cultural Centre, took 1.5 hours to get there, was a nice drive and was interesting to go through the hill and to the other side of the island, saw loads of fruit trees along the way. Saw the valley where they filmed Jurassic Park and 50 First Dates, Windtalkers and is currently where some of the scenes from Lost are shot. Also saw Chinamans Hat which is in scenes from the Karate Kid movies.

We were met in the centre by our tour guide Tab, who was from Christmas Island and is studying here at the University of Hawaii like most of the others who work there.

We went on a boat trip through the different islands, and then went through each of the individual islands watched their shows, learnt a bit about them and then went onto the next, there was a great show that was on the water which was fun.

We had dinner at theAlii Laua on the way in we were given a Lei to wear and had our pics taken. We bought a pineapple smoothie, fully ofyummy Pina Colada. Dinner was great and the pork was sensational, as was the rest of the dishes that we had. There was entertainment during dinner, with more singing and dancing.

After dinner we had time for a wander around and then the main show started at 7.30pm it was fantastic to see, and the music and the dancing was excellent. We finished and were back on the bus just after 9pm and back home just after 1o.

Tomorrow we are having a quiet day around the pool and making the most of the 4th of July celebrations.
